What Was Happening?
Quality grading of open bolls, morning dew moisture assessments, and training farm crews on two-handed clean cotton picking without trash inclusion.
Why Was This Important?
Clean, non-contaminated cotton fetches a 10-15% price premium in commercial ginning auctions compared to machine-mixed or trash-laden lots.
Full Field Chronicle
On 22nd November 2025, the Surendranagar farm achieved 85% natural boll opening. Our farming supervisors conducted cotton fiber quality checks across 12 monitoring grids.
Samples tested on portable moisture and staple gauges indicated zero seed staining, uniform micronaire value of 3.9, and long staple length of 29.8 mm. Picking bags made of 100% cotton canvas have been issued to pickers to prevent polypropylene contamination.
Agronomy & Field Team Notes:
Weather conditions dry and optimal. Picking commenced at 10:00 AM after morning moisture evaporated from the canopy.
